Abigail Inclusive Nursery & Primary School in Namakwa, Mukono, teamed up with Mukono District Local Government for a memorable World Disability Day celebration and their 4th Annual Family Support Week.
The event brought together parents, community leaders, and partners in a united show of support for children living with disabilities. Over 100 families received Christmas gift packages, including rice, posho, soap, and shoes.

Abigail Foundation Director Harriet Nampero welcomed guests and celebrated the milestone of hosting the event at their new home in Namakwa. She thanked Mukono District for merging the official December 3rd celebrations with the school’s event and appreciated partners like Opportunity Bank and Centenary Bank for their continued support.
Mukono District Disability Council Chairperson Mr. Mukunda Godfrey, the Chief Guest, urged communities to value persons with disabilities, calling them “angels from God.” He announced plans for parents of children with disabilities to receive a monthly support token of UGX 100,000 and directed sub-counties to begin registering eligible children.
Senior CDO Ms. Nsagi Immaculate applauded parents for embracing their children’s abilities, while District Union Chairperson Edson Kenneth Mugwiri encouraged stronger inclusion efforts.

Sub-county leaders highlighted progress in disability registration, para-social worker training, and access to programs like PDM. They also called for more government funding to boost support at grassroots level.
The day ended in celebration with cake cutting and sharing of essential home items for over 100 families.
