Bebe Cool Sparks Backlash After Accusing Bobi Wine of “Selling Out Uganda” Over US Stay and Advocacy Tours

Veteran musician Bebe Cool real name Moses Ssali has sharply criticized opposition leader and fellow artist-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine for relocating to the United States, arguing that seeking support from foreign actors comes at the cost of national integrity.

It should be noted that the National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Bobi Wine left Uganda following the disputed January 2026 presidential election, citing safety concerns. He later resurfaced in Washington, D.C. in March, where he began a series of town hall meetings and advocacy engagements in cities including Boston and New York. His efforts are aimed at rallying international pressure against President Yoweri Museveni’s government.

In his remarks, Bebe Cool who is the vocal supporter of the ruling party NRM suggested that obtaining assistance from “those people” abroad inevitably amounts to selling out the country—a statement that has intensified an already polarized political climate.

“Bobi Wine is abroad looking for help, you can’t get help from those people without selling your country. Bobi Wine wants to handle our economy to the whites because he wants to change the regime”, Bebe Cool remarked during his online live broadcast.

The comments have triggered a wave of reactions online, with critics and supporters on both sides weighing in. Many have pointed out what they see as double standards in how Ugandan political figures engage with foreign governments and institutions, further fueling the ongoing national debate.

Bobi Wine is yet to respond on Bebe Cool ‘s remarks and once he does, will shall keep you posted here. Stay locked on.
