Makerere University Guild President, Churchill Ssentamu, who is also a nephew to National Unity Platform (NUP) President Bobi Wine, is currently on the verge of being kicked out of the Central Region Youth MP race.
This follows a petition filed to the Electoral Commission (EC) by a section of Makerere University students accusing him of forging signatures on his nomination forms.

The petition is led by lawyer Namakajo Deric Fredric, who claims that Ssentamu, running as an independent candidate, included names and signatures of students who say they never endorsed him in the first place.
“We were shocked to see our names appear on his list of endorsers when we never signed or agreed to support his candidature,” Namakajo stated.
The students say the alleged forgery amounts to impersonation and violates the electoral guidelines governing youth elections. They want the Electoral Commission to:

Verify all signatures on Ssentamu’s nomination papers
Take action if the claims are confirmed
Disqualify him from the race if found guilty
The Electoral Commission has confirmed receiving the petition and revealed that an investigation is already underway to determine Ssentamu’s eligibility.
It is remembered that Ssentamu chose to run independently, despite his close ties to NUP, instead of seeking the party flag.
This is a developing story, and we shall keep you posted.
