The Electoral Commission (EC) has finally released the official polling dates for the highly anticipated 2026 General Elections.
According to a press statement signed by EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, Ugandans will head to the polls between 15th January and 6th February 2026 to elect the President, Members of Parliament, and Local Government leaders across the country.

The elections for the President and Members of Parliament — including directly elected MPs and District Woman Representatives — are set for 15th January 2026.
Other elections will follow as scheduled below:
19th January 2026: National Conference for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and elections for Special Interest Group (SIG) councillors at Sub-county, Town, and Municipal Division levels.
20th January 2026: SIG councillors at Municipality and City Division levels.
21st January 2026: National Conference for Workers Representatives.
22nd January 2026: District and City Local Government elections — including District Chairpersons, Lord Mayors, and Councillors.
27th January 2026: Municipality and City Division elections.
28th January 2026: National Conferences for Female Youth, Female Older Persons, and UPDF Representatives to Parliament.
29th January 2026: District and City SIG councillor elections.
2nd February 2026: Regional Conference for Older Persons Representatives.
4th February 2026: Sub-county, Town, and Municipal Division Chairpersons and Councillors elections.
6th February 2026: Regional Conferences for Youth Representatives to Parliament.
Justice Byabakama urged all candidates, agents, supporters, and election observers to follow the official guidelines and respect the polling dates.
“All candidates, their agents and supporters, election observers and the general public are reminded to observe the respective dates and participate in accordance with the guidelines for polling for the respective elective position,” he said.

The EC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in line with the Constitution and Uganda’s electoral laws.
