FDC’s Bukedea Woman MP hopeful, Norma Susan Otai, has taken the Electoral Commission (EC) and Speaker Anita Annet Among to court, accusing them of blocking her nomination and frustrating her bid.
Otai says the EC failed to issue a timely ruling on her petition after she was barred from accessing the Bukedea nomination centre on October 23, prompting her to seek legal redress. Through her lawyers at Escala Associated Advocates, she insists the EC’s delay is “illegal, irrational, and unjustifiable.”

She now wants court to order the EC to immediately rule on her complaint and halt the gazetting of any Bukedea Woman MP candidate until the matter is resolved.
Otai also accuses Speaker Among of interfering with electoral procedures, saying it undermines democracy and denies candidates a fair chance to campaign.
The case comes as another lawsuit filed by Zipporah Akolbchallenges the eligibility of Otai, Hellen Akol Odeke, and NUP’s Mercy Marion Alupo for allegedly not being registered voters in their respective parishes.
The EC has since confirmed the trio was removed from the National Voters Register following tribunal recommendations.

Otai says Justice Simon Peter Kinobe was expected to deliver a ruling on October 27, 2025, but to date, no communication has been made deepening her claims of administrative failure.
