Media personality and social commentator Frank Gashumba has ignited debate after boldly declaring his daughter, Sheilah Gashumba, as the highest-paid media figure in Uganda.
Speaking on Sanyuka TV’s Morning Xpress, Frank Gashumba claimed Sheilah earns up to UGX 5 million for just one hour of work, emphasizing her financial success and influence.
“Sheilah Gashumba is very loaded; she is the most paid person in Uganda’s media,” he stated.
The remarks come months after Sheilah revealed she had quit mainstream media due to poor pay earning only UGX 50,000–100,000 per show which she described as unsustainable. She also highlighted widespread underpayment in the industry, where many personalities rely on side hustles to survive.
Since exiting traditional media, Sheilah has pivoted to digital marketing, deejaying, and entrepreneurship ventures she says are far more lucrative. She has continued to speak out about the financial realities of Uganda’s media space while building her brand through endorsements and online content.
Gashumba’s statement has since stirred mixed reactions online, fueling ongoing conversations about earnings, influence, and the true value of media personalities in Uganda’s competitive entertainment industry.
