Frank Gashumba has revealed he had over Shs1.2 billion in his bank account when Malaika Mutoni introduced him to her family, saying he spared no expense for the ceremony.
Speaking on a local radio station, the socio-political commentator disclosed that he spent Shs240 million on the function and presented 12 cows as part of the traditional requirements.
He also took a swipe at Kalungu West MP Joseph Ssewungu, dismissing the legislator’s Shs1 million contribution, which he later refunded. “What is Shs1 million to me?” Gashumba asked, sparking reactions on social media.
The 26-year-old Malaika introduced Gashumba to her parents at a Gusaba ceremony held in Sembabule on Thursday, 15th May 2025. Later this year, the couple welcomed a healthy baby girl.
Gashumba’s comments have stirred debate, with some criticizing the public display of wealth while others defended him, saying he was simply responding to critics.
