Ugandan Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has spoken out after surviving what he described as a close brush with death in a road accident on 7 February 2026, his second such incident in a short period.
Taking to social media, the minister shared a photo of his vehicle showing a burst tyre, revealing just how close the incident was. In an emotional and faith-filled message, Balaam thanked God for what he called divine protection, saying his life was spared by grace, not chance.
Quoting Psalm 91:1, Balaam declared that his survival was evidence of God’s covering over believers, stressing that no form of danger can prevail against those who trust in Him.
“I serve the living God who covers all who believe in Him, no matter what. God protects His people. Accidents, bullets, witchcraft, blackmail, hate or any evil act cannot destroy a believer,” Balaam wrote.
He went on to call for unity across faiths, urging Ugandans to remain prayerful and grateful in all circumstances.
“Let us worship and praise God always, across all our religious denominations. God cares. God loves us.He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.’ — Psalm 91:1.”, Balaam added.
While many followers flooded the comment section with prayers and thanksgiving messages, others used the moment to raise concerns about Uganda’s poor road conditions, arguing that faith should not replace accountability and proper infrastructure. Some critics blamed corruption and negligence for frequent road accidents, calling for action beyond prayers.
Despite the mixed reactions, Balaam’s message struck a chord with many believers, with supporters saying his testimony was a reminder of faith in moments of danger and uncertainty.
The minister has not released further details about the accident or reported any injuries, but his post has continued to spark conversation across social media
