A fresh political storm is brewing after General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Uganda ‘s CDF and first son son, publicly commented on the whereabouts of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, delivering yet another controversial statement that has set social media buzzing.
Taking to his official X account on Thursday evening, Muhoozi responded to a question from Channel 4 News International Editor Lindsey Hilsum, who challenged him over his past remarks about Bobi Wine.
Hilsum directly asked why Muhoozi had previously stated that he hoped Bobi Wine would be the 23rd “terrorist” he would execute.
In response, Muhoozi shared old clips of Bobi Wine’s speeches and insisted that the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) presidential candidate had openly identified himself as a rebel figure.
“He clearly stated how he is a terrorist. He will test what we give rebels in return,” Muhoozi wrote.
The statement has quickly reignited debate over the escalating tensions between the state and Uganda’s leading opposition figure, especially in the tense post-election period.
Muhoozi’s remarks came just hours after Bobi Wine released a dramatic message declaring that he remains under siege following the recently concluded general elections.
In a post shared on his official X account, Bobi Wine said his home is still surrounded and that the current regime is allegedly hunting him down. He further revealed that several of his senior party deputies are either missing or in detention.
“I am not free. My home is still under siege, and the criminal regime is trying to hunt me down,” Bobi Wine stated.
He added that his Deputy President for Northern Uganda, Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru, remains missing after reportedly being abducted from her home on January 15.
Meanwhile, Deputy President for Western Uganda, Hon. Jolly Jacklyn Tukamushaba, was also reported missing after an alleged abduction from Rukiga District on January 14.
Bobi Wine further disclosed that his Deputy President for Central Region, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held at Kira Division Police.
“As the persecution intensifies, may we remain rooted in hope and faith that our struggle — the Ugandan struggle will end in victory,” Bobi Wine added.
The dramatic exchange between Muhoozi and Bobi Wine comes at a time when political tensions remain high across the country, with opposition supporters raising alarm over arrests, disappearances, and security deployments following the elections.
