“I Lost My MP Seat Because of Salim Saleh” – Luttamaguzi Breaks Down After Shock Nakaseke South Defeat

Online drama erupted after incumbent Nakaseke South MP Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula emotionally blamed Gen. Salim Saleh for his defeat in the 2026 general elections.

Luttamaguzi, who had previously survived elections in the constituency despite Saleh’s long-standing influence in the area, suffered a shocking loss on 15 January 2026. The NUP flagbearer was defeated by NRM’s Charles Nsereko Basajjassubi, who secured 30,279 votes, bringing Luttamaguzi’s parliamentary tenure to an abrupt end.

Minutes after the results were declared, Luttamaguzi delivered a fiery post-election address in viral social media video , accusing President Museveni’s brother, Gen. Salim Saleh, of masterminding interference that cost him the seat.He claimed that Saleh was behind multiple irregularities at polling stations.
Clutching documents and gesturing angrily, Luttamaguzi alleged that polling agents were ordered not to issue DR forms to his team, making it difficult to verify results.

He went further, blaming Luwero residents for allowing Saleh to settle in the region, calling it a “big problem,” before warning that:

“Ugandans should look for another plan if they want to overthrow Museveni’s government. The ballot alone cannot achieve anything because they cannot accept results.”Luttamaguzi stated.

But the emotional outburst quickly took a dramatic turn online.

A video clip of his speech spread across social media, edited with laughing emojis over his passionate remarks. The meme went viral, turning his defeat into trending comic content and sparking widespread mockery.

Supporters say his claims raise serious concerns about electoral interference. Critics, however, argue the viral reaction reflects public amusement at a dramatic loss.

As Nakaseke South moves on, one thing is clear — Luttamaguzi’s defeat and explosive reaction have become one of the most talked-about post-election moments of 2026.
