National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General and Kampala Central MP hopeful David Lewis Rubongoya has dismissed claims that President Museveni funded his education at Harvard and Oxford universities.
Speaking in an interview with former Bukedde TV presenter Mary Flavia, Rubongoya said the accusations have been pushed by people who simply want to tarnish his name and paint him as a regime mole.

Rubongoya clarified that he never received government sponsorship for any of his studies abroad. Instead, Harvard granted him a partial scholarship, and later at Oxford, he received another partial scholarship plus student loans, which he says he is still paying back.
“I have the emails to prove it. My academic performance earned me those scholarships not government money,” he confidently stated.
Rubongoya also addressed concerns about whether he can juggle being NUP Secretary General and Kampala Central MP if elected. He explained that the Secretary General’s office looks extremely busy simply because he chose to make it active and visible, unlike in other parties where the SG is barely known.

He noted that many supporters had asked him to join active politics earlier, but he opted to first focus on building and strengthening NUP before stepping into elective politics.
Rubongoya says he is now ready to represent Kampala Central, insisting that the people deserve a leader who will boldly confront their daily challenges.
