Busiro East Member of Parliament Hon. Medard Lubega Ssegona has finally spoken out on the controversy surrounding fellow parliamentary hopeful Mathias Walukagga.
Speaking to residents in Bulenga earlier this week, Ssegona dismissed claims that he is behind the demand for Walukagga’s academic papers, urging critics to first do their research before pointing fingers.

“He came with the intention of throwing me out of Parliament and no one complained. But when he is dropped from the race over his academic papers, that’s when people get angry,” Ssegona said.
The legislator added that instead of blaming others, Walukagga should simply present the required academic qualifications as demanded by the authorities.

“Producing papers should not be a problem if one is qualified,” Ssegona noted.
Meanwhile, court is expected on Monday next week to deliver its ruling on Walukagga’s petition challenging the Electoral Commission’s decision to remove him from the list of candidates for Busiro East Constituency over alleged lack of academic qualifications.
