Former Kawempe South MP and presidential Candidate , Mubarak Munyagwa, has sharply criticised his father, Hajj Burhan Sserunga, over his public endorsement of President Yoweri Museveni.
Speaking on Sanyuka TV’s One on One programme on Tuesday, Munyagwa said his father no longer understands the suffering of ordinary Ugandans.

“My father was bewitched. He can’t see what this country is going through,” Munyagwa said.
His remarks followed Sserunga’s appearance at an NRM rally held last Saturday at Kayombo Primary School in Kitagwenda District, where he openly praised Museveni’s leadership and urged supporters to back him in the coming elections.
Sserunga, a civilian veteran, said he supported Museveni because of the peace brought by the NRM government and credited the regime for improving his welfare through the veterans’ programme.

President Museveni, who attended the rally, hailed Sserunga for his role during the liberation struggle.
Munyagwa, however, distanced himself from his father’s views, insisting that after nearly 40 years of NRM rule, Ugandans are still battling poverty, unemployment, corruption and failing public services.
The former FDC legislator is now seeking the presidency under the Common Man’s Party, positioning himself as a strong critic of the long-serving NRM administration.
