Protect Every Vote – NUP’s Bobi Wine Rolls Out Parallel Tally App as Election Nears

Opposition leader and National Unity Platform presidential, Bobi Wine, born Robert Kyagulanyi, has issued a fresh rallying call to his supporters ahead of Uganda’s highly anticipated general elections slated for January 15 , 2026.

In a powerful message shared online, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president urged citizens to step forward as volunteer election monitors to safeguard the integrity of the vote.

Bobi Wine warned of possible electoral irregularities, including interference with polling agents and alleged tampering with Declaration of Results (DR) forms.

To counter this, the opposition chief unveiled a citizen-led parallel vote tallying initiative, encouraging supporters to use a dedicated mobile application to submit polling station results and photographic evidence in real time.

The system, he said, is designed to promote transparency, document irregularities, and ensure that the will of the people is protected at every polling station.

With just days to the polls, political temperatures continue to rise as both the ruling NRM and opposition camps intensify last-minute mobilization efforts setting the stage for one of Uganda’s most closely watched elections in recent history.
