KAMPALA — Former Uganda Prisons Service officer Lawrence Ampe has sounded the alarm over his safety following his dismissal, saying his life is now at risk after he spoke out against alleged corruption and human rights abuses within the force.
Taking it to his socials ,Ampe claims that his removal from service has left him exposed and vulnerable, warning that powerful forces may be seeking to silence him through abduction or even worse.
“After being dismissed for speaking the truth, my life is in danger. I fear I could be targeted for abduction or elimination,” Ampe said.

The former officer revealed that he has been forced to abandon his home and source of livelihood, describing his current situation as dire and uncertain.
He says he now urgently needs support to secure his safety, facilitate relocation, and protect himself from potential harm.
Ampe insists that his dismissal was not due to misconduct, but rather a punishment for exposing wrongdoing and abuse of power, adding that he remains committed to advocating for justice and accountability in Uganda despite the threats.
“I refuse to be silenced. With support, I can continue shining a light on injustice and defending the truth,” he said.
By press time, the Uganda Prisons Service had not issued an official response to Ampe’s claims.
