Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono has announced the sudden death of its Director of Student Affairs (Dean of Students) , Ms. Pamela Tumwebaze, who passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2026.
In an official statement, the university described her passing as a peaceful departure “with the LORD” and called on the UCU community and the public to keep her family in prayer during this painful time.
UCU shared a photo of Ms. Tumwebaze dressed in academic regalia, smiling during what appears to be a graduation ceremony an image that has since gone viral as students and alumni mourn her loss.
According to reports reaching our website , Ms. Tumwebaze was brutally attacked by unknown assailants at her home in Mukono on Monday night. She sustained severe injuries during the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors fought to save her life. Sadly, she later succumbed to the injuries.
Tumwebaze was last seen addressing students on Tuesday during a community worship service held at Nkoyoyo Hall, where she was the keynote speaker. In her address, she spoke about building healthy relationships among students.
News of her killing has sent shockwaves through the UCU fraternity and beyond. Students, alumni, and staff have flooded social media with tributes, remembering her as a calm, compassionate, and dedicated leader who was deeply committed to student welfare and mentorship.
Her death has also reignited national concern over the rising cases of violent attacks against women in Uganda. Online discussions have linked her killing to a troubling pattern of unresolved murders and home invasions, with many calling it yet another case highlighting the growing threat of femicide.
As grief turns into anger and fear, pressure is mounting on security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation, bring the perpetrators to justice, and address the broader issue of escalating violence in residential areas.
Police are yet to issue a detailed statement on the progress of investigations.
This is a developing story. More details will be shared as they emerge.
