Training Cancelled as Bonus Row Rocks Uganda Cranes Camp in Morocco

Latest reports reaching our news desk indicate that the Uganda national football team’s training session was abruptly called off today after internal disagreements over player bonuses escalated at the team camp in Morocco.

Sources indicate that the Cranes did not train following intense discussions that began on Wednesday evening and stretched into Thursday morning, centring on unpaid allowances and a proposed qualification bonus.

According to information emerging from camp, players held talks with FUFA President Moses Magogo over a proposed €6,000 qualification bonus to be paid after the first stage. However, several senior players reportedly rejected the offer, saying it was unacceptable especially given that they have not received any bonuses for more than a year despite repeated promises.

The situation escalated on Thursday morning when senior players rallied their teammates. About seven players then approached head coach Paul Put, informing him they would not participate in training.

Coach Put is said to have acknowledged the players’ concerns and accepted their decision, leading to the cancellation of the session.

Sources close to the team say the players insist their stand is not about seeking favors, but about respect and the payment of their rightful dues.

A crisis meeting is currently underway at the team hotel as officials work to resolve the standoff and restore calm within the camp.
This is a developing story.
