Popular Ugandan YouTuber and content creator Shalom Kaweesi will spend this Christmas behind bars after court remanded him to Luzira Prison on charges of cyber harassment and hate speech.
Shalom was on Monday evening produced before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged and remanded until December 30, 2025. The case follows allegations linked to an online attack on NRM mobiliser and social media personality Jennifer Full Figure.

Court records indicate that in August, Shalom uploaded a YouTube video in which he allegedly made statements that Full Figure described as hateful and harassing. She later filed a complaint, leading police to open investigations into the matter.
Earlier on the same day, Shalom was arrested and briefly held at Katwe Police Station before being taken to court.
During the court session, prosecutors read out charges of cyber harassment and hate speech, offences punishable under Uganda’s cyber laws. The magistrate ordered that Shalom be remanded to Luzira Prison as investigations continue.
Shalom was not alone during the tense court appearance. Several of his close associates, including Frank Ntambi, Kasuku, and his wife, attended the hearing to offer him moral support.

The case has since sparked heated debate on social media, with supporters and critics closely watching how the matter will unfold.
More updates will follow as the story develops.
