Independent Soroti City East parliamentary aspirant Rodney Mukula Akongel, son of veteran politician Capt. Mike Mukula, has been rushed to Mulago Hospital following a suspected poisoning incident, sending panic across the constituency.
According to sources, Mukula first received emergency treatment at Doctor’s Plaza Clinic in Soroti City, where medics worked to stabilize him before he was urgently transferred to Mulago for advanced care.
Capt. Mike Mukula confirmed that his son is currently admitted in the VVIP emergency ward as doctors continue their assessment.
The youthful candidate, whose campaign had recently gained strong momentum, was widely viewed as one of the leading contenders in the Soroti City East race. Supporters had praised him as a fresh, energetic figure capable of giving the incumbent a serious challenge.
