Fresh controversy has erupted around Ugandan singer Douglas Sseguya Mayanja, popularly known as Weasel Manizo, after reports emerged that police want him to answer questions over an alleged stabbing incident.
The saga centers on Sammy Amanya, who claims the singer attacked him during a violent altercation on January 19. Speaking in an interview with local TV station, Sammy said he had gone to Weasel’s home for pest control work when things took a sudden turn.
According to his account, the Goodlyfe crew singer and his partner returned from a night out and became suspicious after finding him with a crossbody bag he had borrowed while cleaning. He alleges that while in the bathroom, Weasel confronted him, assaulted him, and stabbed him in the stomach using metal knuckles.
Sammy says he collapsed and lost consciousness, only to later learn he had been rushed to a nearby clinic before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital for emergency surgery.
“They operated on me while I was unconscious. I later found out they had removed my spleen and repaired my intestines,” he claimed, adding that records allegedly listed the injuries as resulting from a road accident.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Sammy alleges the matter was initially handled privately, with the singer’s family promising medical support and financial assistance commitments he says were never fulfilled.
He further accuses Weasel’s partner, Sandra Teta, of issuing threats to alter the narrative if he went public.
“She warned me they would accuse me of trying to assault their daughter. That scared me,” he said.
Sandra Teta has strongly denied the allegations, offering a sharply different version of events. In a phone interview, she accused Sammy of attempting to extort money, insisting his claims are inconsistent.
“He has turned us into a business. Let him bring proof. His story keeps changing,” she said, adding that she has records showing financial support previously given to him.
As the conflicting accounts intensify, authorities have intervened. Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed that a formal complaint has been filed and that Weasel Manizo has been summoned to record a statement.
