Janet Museveni Warns Youth Against Election Violence Ahead of 2026 Polls

First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has cautioned Uganda’s youthful population against being drawn into acts that could disrupt peace as the country approaches the elections in the forthcoming months.

Speaking during her recent engagement in Kololo, the First Lady emphasized that young people hold the power to either protect national stability or be manipulated by selfish interests to ignite violence.

She urged the youth to remain calm, vigilant and committed to peaceful participation in the electoral process, noting that Uganda’s future largely rests in their hands.

Janet Museveni called on community leaders, parents and institutions to guide young people toward dialogue and lawful engagement, stressing that peace before, during and after elections is vital for the nation’s progress.
