National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has urged his supporters to proudly carry Uganda’s national flag, insisting that the symbol represents unity and true patriotism.
Bobi Wine ‘s remarks come amid government warnings accusing some NUP supporters of misusing the national flag during campaign activities. Authorities have cautioned that the flag should be handled with respect and in line with the law.
However, Bobi Wine dismissed the claims, saying his supporters are not abusing the national symbol but embracing it as a sign of love for the country.
He argued that NUP deserves recognition for encouraging Ugandans, especially young people to reconnect with national values.
“The national flag belongs to all Ugandans. Carrying it is a clear sign of patriotism, not misuse,” Bobi Wine said, adding that no political group should be stopped from expressing national pride.
The opposition leader maintained that displaying the flag during rallies and public events sends a strong message of unity and ownership of the country by its citizens.
Bobi Wine continues to rally his supporters to remain peaceful while expressing their political views, insisting that patriotism should never be criminalised.
