Uganda’s media industry has entered a new era following the official launch of the Entertainment and Media Hosts Association (EMHA) at Kyambogo at National Council offices (ONC) , an event that drew strong turnout from presenters across mainstream radio and television stations.
The launch marked a long-awaited breakthrough for media hosts, who for years operated without a unified body unlike musicians, comedians, and drama actors who have benefited from structured associations. This gap inspired the formation of EMHA, aimed at giving presenters organization, representation, and a powerful collective voice.
EMHA seeks to formally organize and recognize radio and TV hosts, advocate for their professional interests, and position members to access government support and funding available to organized creative groups. The association also highlights the critical role presenters play in national development, from information dissemination and entertainment to cultural promotion and public engagement.
At the launch, Miles Rwamiti, who was appointed Chairman of EMHA, emphasized that the association is founded on professionalism, inclusivity, and voluntary membership, welcoming all presenters who believe in unity and collective progress.
The successful Kyambogo launch signals the beginning of a new chapter for Uganda’s mainstream media presenters one built on unity, collaboration, and sustainable growth within the entertainment and media sector.
