Buchaman Warns Bobi Wine: ‘Rabadoba’ Lifestyle Could Put You in Danger

Ugandan musician and presidential Advisor on Ghetto Affairs Buchaman has cautioned National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and fellow artiste-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, against adopting what he described as a “Rabadoba” lifestyle — Luganda slang for moving discreetly or incognito..

Speaking during an appearance on NTV’s Mwase Mutya show, Buchaman argued that Bobi Wine’s low-profile movements, often adopted to evade state surveillance and harassment, could instead expose him to greater danger in Uganda’s highly charged political environment.

Buchaman noted that presidential candidate, Bobi Wine’s history of clashes with security agencies including multiple arrests, blocked rallies, and violent confrontations during protests has understandably pushed him to move quietly. However, he warned that such secrecy could make the opposition leader more vulnerable.

According to Buchaman, Bobi Wine should instead embrace visibility and officially sanctioned police protection, stressing that being seen in public not only enhances safety but also keeps him connected to his supporters.

“Moving secretly might look smart, but it can be dangerous. Being open and protected is safer,” Buchaman reportedly advised during the show.

The remarks have since sparked heated debate online, with mixed reactions from the public. Some critics dismissed Buchaman’s advice, questioning his credibility and pointing to his well-documented personal struggles, including financial hardships, as a reason not to take his counsel seriously.

Others, however, viewed his comments as a rare and sober appeal that cuts across political lines, interpreting them as a genuine call for caution in a country where opposition politics often come with serious personal risk.

As Uganda’s political temperature continues to rise, Buchaman’s warning has reignited discussions around security, visibility, and survival for opposition figures operating under constant state scrutiny.
