Former House Help Arrested Over the Brutal Murder of UCU Director Pamela as Police Recover Stolen Property

The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Taewaiko Dak Hussein, a former house help, as a key suspect in the shocking murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Students Affairs at Uganda Christian University.

Tumwebaze was strangled to death on Tuesday night at her home, in a chilling incident that occurred while her two young children were inside the house, sending shockwaves across the academic and wider Ugandan community.

According to police, the suspect was arrested on Friday, 14th February 2026, following a swift operation by a Joint Security Task Team. Hussein was tracked down to his hideout in Budaka District, just two days after the gruesome murder.

Crucially, police revealed that the suspect was found in possession of property believed to have been stolen from the deceased—evidence that directly links him to the crime scene. Preliminary investigations have also established that Hussein previously worked as a house help for Tumwebaze, raising serious concerns about betrayal of trust.

The suspect was found in possession of the deceased’s property, which is a critical piece of evidence linking him to the murder.”Kawala stated.

Police have emphasized that investigations are still ongoing and assured the public that more details will be released as inquiries progress.

The tragic killing of Pamela Tumwebaze has reignited national conversations around domestic security and the safety of professionals within their own homes
