Electoral Commission Starts Issuing Photo Voters’ Register to Presidential Candidates

The Uganda Electoral Commission on Wednesday 7th January 2026 officially began issuing the photo-bearing National Voters’ Register to presidential candidates ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Representatives from the NRM and NUP were the first to receive their copies of the register. According to the Commission, the exercise is being conducted in line with the law and established electoral procedures.

The Electoral Commission further confirmed that all other duly nominated presidential candidates will receive their copies in due course as the process continues.

The move marks a key step in preparations for the upcoming polls, aimed at promoting transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
