Government Warns Media: Operate Within the Law or Face Action

The Government of Uganda has issued a strong reminder to all media platforms, emphasizing that freedom of the press must be exercised within the boundaries of the law.

In a statement, authorities warned that broadcasting violence, spreading hateful or inciting content, or publishing unverified election results is illegal and will not be tolerated.

The government stressed that any media house or platform found violating these guidelines will face strict enforcement action, especially during this sensitive electoral period.

Media practitioners have been urged to act responsibly, verify information before publication, and prioritize national peace and stability while informing the public.
