Museveni Explains Why Internet Is Now Cheaper in Uganda

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that the drop in internet costs across Uganda is a result of deliberate government investment in underground fibre infrastructure.

Speaking during a live social media interaction with young people on Sunday at State House, Nakasero, under the theme “Jazz With Jajja,” the President said he personally pushed for the rollout of underground fibre internet to guarantee stable and affordable connectivity nationwide.

“I am the one who worked very hard to bring fibre internet into this country,” Museveni told the audience.

He explained that expanding fibre infrastructure across the country has strengthened internet reliability and helped drive down prices, allowing more Ugandans to access digital services.

Museveni made the remarks while engaging young people on technology, innovation and national development during the interactive session, stressing that affordable internet is key to Uganda’s digital future.
